Readings and discussion on the genocide in Gaza
Book launch of The Face before you: To write poetry on genocide by Mohammed Moussa,
With writer and dancer Nada Shawa.

We will have readings from Nada and Moe, followed by a Q and A with both writers, talking about this unique situation.

Mohammed Moussa is a Palestinian poet, podcast host and founder of the Gaza Poets — a platform for emerging voices from Gaza and beyond. Born and raised in Gaza, he now lives in Turkey, where he continues to write and build connections across borders.

Nada Shawa is a Palestinian dancer and writer from Gaza. Born with Cerebral Palsy, she was schooled and treated for her condition when she came to Scotland, without her family at the age of eight. Nada was unable to return to Palestine due to the dangererous situation under the Israeli occupation. She graduated from the University of Edinburgh with an honours degree. Since the start of the genocide, Nada has lost over 200 of her extended family and friends. She has been invited to perform at multiple solidarity fundraisers. Nada has performed widely dance and her own written material at multiple International arts festivals, including the Edinburgh International Festival, the Scottish International Storytelling Festival, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and the Edinburgh International Book Festival.

Her first book of prose and poetry, Indigenous Soul: Gaza and Me was first published by Main Point Books in 2024, and an extended edition in 2025, supporting a charity her late mother founded in Gaza.
